A Good Toss to Win - Time Team Vs Southbank

Newly formed Time Team got their start relatively late in the season.

Opposition Southbank had five games under their belt, with two wins and three losses for their Saturday side. Since it was the first time at Orleans School, some members of Time Team had no idea where to go, and confidently strode into a dead end and had to ask a caretaker for directions to the pitch.

Time Team won the toss, and chose to bat first. This was a decision that would fare them well. First up to the crease were Simon and Mohammed.

It was a slow first over, but on the second, Mohammed hit two boundaries in a row. However, his third ball bowled him out. Time Team showed good energy, with Khartib throwing himself over the line to keep himself in. He grazed his elbow in the process, but stayed in for a few more balls.

Highlight of the Time Team batsmen was Raj, who hit multiple sixes and managed 43 runs. Luke managed to hit a personal best, of three runs, and staying out for three overs, compared to zero and zero on his two previous matches.

At the end of the first innings, the score was 125 all out, after 28 overs.

The tea was excellent, with members of Southbank commenting it was the best of the season so far.

After tea, Batsmen Thornton and Abbott came out for Southbank. After seven overs, full of boundaries, a drinks was called, and the wicket keeper was changed.

Thornton and Abbott continued to hit boundaries. Members of Southbank took to the nets with stumps to practice.

Thornton and Abbott, after a point, started walking rather than running between the stumps.

It was at 14.4 overs that Southbank claimed the victory, with 128 runs. It was barely 5pm.

Speaking afterwards, the batsmen said “I’ve had my first 50” and “I wish we’d won the toss”.
